The Hardest Part of Your Fitness Journey

I've been training and been in the fitness and Personal Training industry in Collingwood for a long time and if there is one thing I could label as the hardest thing to do when it comes to getting fit and healthy its this:

Simply getting started.

That's literally it. I see it time and time again, an individual gets all motivated (yeah, don't get me started on 'motivation') and they've had enough of being tired and overweight. Possibly they've had some health issues start to arise and they think 'ok that's it! Starting Monday (or new year, or when work calms down, or once they finish the renovation or once the kids are older, insert your excuse here) I am going to get a gym membership or meet with a trainer and I'm going to get fit!'. Well, too often that doesn't happen. Another minor inconvenience comes up, or you had a long day on Monday so you say to yourself 'next Monday I'll start for sure! Was just a hard day'

Well I'm sorry to tell you this, but that wasn't your first hard day, it won't be your last.

It's not your first busy week, won't be your last

It's not your first injury, won't be your last

You WILL find an excuse every time.

Now let's talk about the SECOND Hardest thing to do on your fitness journey.

Getting Restarted.

Now see if this sounds like something you've done before; you were doing great, consistently hitting the gym for 6 weeks and seeing some result. But something happens, maybe you got sick or you just had a miserable day and you ration with yourself 'I simply just can't do it today, not after (insert event here), I'll go back in a few days'

But you didn't, maybe you went a few more times over the next month but then you fell off completely. Suddenly you allowed the first minor inconvenience be used as an excuse which opened the door for ANY inconvenience to be your reason not to go. Now it's almost impossible to get back in the groove and you just can't get restarted.

THE MOST IMPORTANT DAYS TO TRAIN ARE THE DAYS YOU DON'T WANT TO

Life will sometimes throw inevitables at you, but those should be very few and far between. When you don't have the motivation to go, you're sick, or tired, these are the most important days to get up and do it anyways. The only bad workout is the one that didn't happen, sometimes you have to do a lighter session, or half, but you still did something, you still showed up when most would wimp out.

That's exactly why at Flex Ed. Personal Training the programming is designed in a way to force consistency to drive results. Try a free Personal Training session with me at the studio, at home or online to get started.
